Dr. Jack W. Brinker

Dr. Brinker is a second-generation veterinarian, son to Wade O. Brinker, a retired orthopedic surgeon at the Michigan State Veterinary School.  Dr. Brinker always wanted to be a vet but he had several careers before attending vet school.  Before becoming the Dr. B that we all know and love, he taught high school, served as a principal and taught at Michigan State University.

In vet school he had a special interest in surgery and graduated top in his class in orthopedic surgery.  After graduation, he started practicing medicine in Rochester and then finished his advanced orthopedic courses in Devos, Switzerland, taught by his father and several other top surgeons in the world.  He was offered an orthopedic residency at the same time he met the love of his life, Nancy.  He opted to marry Nancy and start a practice of his own, a decision that he has never regretted.

Dr. Brinker opened Brinker Veterinary Hospital in 1985 with his wife, Nancy and his technician, Sue.  He has taken pride in pursuing clinical and surgical excellence through continuing education and certification in special areas including fracture repair, ultrasonography and TPLOs.  He is a member of SEMVMA and attends a minimum of 50 hours of contnuing education every year.

The clinic has continued to grow and has added two of the best and most skilled veterinarians in the state, each with their own expertise and interest areas, as well as a compassionate and highly trained support staff.

Dr. Corey (Hermoyian) Gut

Upon graduation, Dr. Corey struggled with the decision of whether to do a residency program in surgery or to begin general medicine practice. Although she loved surgery, she also wanted to be a part of a general practice where she could have a regular clientele and become close to her clients and patients. She found the best of both worlds at Brinker Veterinary Hospital . Here, she received additional surgical training and post-grad courses in Soft tissue and Orthopedic Surgery, including receiving TPLO certification in 2004. But when not in surgery, Dr. Corey still gets plenty of time with her clients and patients and has built close relationships with them which she cherishes!

In addition to surgery, Dr. Corey has a special love of Cardiology and Ultrasonography. She has received post-graduate advanced training in abdominal ultrasonography and has been trained to perform echocardiograms (heart ultrasounds).

Her proud accomplishments include receiving awards from Michigan State University and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) for excellence in both surgery and internal medicine. Dr. Corey has also been honored in several local newspapers and magazines for her exceptional veterinary care and was named “The Animal Lover You Should Know” by Six Degrees magazine. She still helps MSU by teaching vet students during their spay/neuter programs and serves as a mentor for middle school students interested in the field.

She was married in 2005 to her college sweetheart, Adam, and they welcomed their first child in February 2008, a little girl named Addison Elizabeth.  Addison is now little sister to their sweet 4-legged child, “Vinnie,” (the best dog ever)!   They just recently expanded to a family of 5 - welcoming another beautiful little girl, Ashley Kay, to the household June 3, 2009.

In the spring of 2007 she attended the CVC East conference and took special courses in ophthalmic surgery.
